Rescheduling A Game

Here are the procedure for postponing and re-scheduling a regular season game.

1. You MUST contact the opposing coach by Tuesday the week of the game to inform them that the game will not be played.

2. Email the referee coordinator, Mike Lutts, so that he will not assign a referee to your game.
Email at mlutts@cox.net.

3. Get in contact with the opposing coach again to arrange a time you can make the game up. Agree on two to three times and get with Mike (mlutts@cox.net) to set up a referee.

It is not the responsibility of the club to reschedule your games for you. If you do not officially cancel your game by Tuesday, you will be responsible for paying referee fees when you play your game.

When your game is played, email your score to scorekeeper@yukonsoccer.net.

The League Scoring and Standings System

Scoring

U6 Girls and Coed Division
Standings are not kept for the U6 division.  Referees do not log the final scores.

U7 through U12 Girls and Coed Divisions
The following 9-point system used:
6 points for a win.
3 points for a tie.
1 point for each goal (up to a maximum of 3)
0 points for a loss

YSC has installed a 10 point differential rule.  If a team wins by more than 10 points, they will lose 1 standing point for every goal over 10 points.

Scoring Examples:

Win game 3 to 2 (Winning team gets 6 points for victory and 3 points for goals for a total of 9 points.  Losing team gets 0 points for loss and 2 points for goals  for a total of 2 points.)

Tie game 1 to 1 (Both teams get 3 points for the tie and 1 point for goals for a total of 4 points each)

Win game 13 to 1 (Winning team gets 6 points for victory and 3 points for goals, but since team won by 12 points they lose 2 standings points for a total of 9-2=7 points).

League Standings

Yukon Soccer Club schedules games with teams from surrounding area clubs. Some divisions will be made up of only Yukon teams, while others will have teams from different clubs.

Yukon Soccer Club maintains “Total Standings” which, by using the point system, determines placement within a division. The “Total Standings” are for the entire division, but are NOT used when determining trophy placement for Yukon home teams. Typically, these are the standings that are viewed from the YSC website.

Yukon Soccer Club rewards teams within its own club; therefore, “Yukon Standings” must also be determined. These standings will determine placement only within the Yukon home teams. Below are a set of guidelines used by Yukon Soccer Club to determine “Yukon Standings”.

  1. Only games against other Yukon club teams count.
  2. If all teams play each other twice (or three times), then ALL games count towards standings.
  3. If a team plays a team more than others, then only the SECOND game played against that team counts towards standings.
  4. Teams with the same amount of points (against Yukon teams) will tie for placement.
  5. If one team plays another Yukon team 3 times and other Yukon teams twice then only the second two games count.

Because of the amount of teams in a division and the amount of games played, there are many times when a schedule calls for teams to play some teams more than once.  Which team plays which multiple times is completely arbitrary.  When the club sets a schedule, it is not known which teams will have a winning record or which will have a losing record (teams vary per season). As a result, a less dominant team may have to play the most dominant team twice while other teams get to play teams their own caliber twice.  If all games are counted, the less dominant team most likely receives two losses, while the dominant team receives two victories.  This is why only the second game is counted or the last two times if applicable.
